The world of British television was celebrated through BAFTAS lenses on Sunday, May 10 and among the big winners were Ant and Dec, The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies and Marvellous. Christopher Jefferies won this year’s Mini Series and Jason Watkins took the crown for Leading Actor. Marvellous’ Gemma Jones won Supporting Actress and the show won the Single Drama category. Meanwhile, comedy presenters Ant and Dec (Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly) won two awards: Entertainment Performance and Entertainment Programme for Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

Watkins’ counterpart, Georgina Campbell won Leading Actress for her role in the intense domestic violence focused drama Murdered By My Boyfriend, a coincidental equal to The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies – both true crime stories. The actor and actress survived some tough competition from Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch, The Missing’s James Nesbitt and Cilla’s Sheridan Smith.

Unsurprisingly, Sherlock also won Radio Times’ Audience Award after a public consensus despite its leading man losing his chance again for Leading Actor. Benedict Cumberbatch… six nominations… give him a chance, people! On the international (and perhaps more familiar) leader’s board, True Detective, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson scored this year’s International Series crown, beating Orange is the New Black, House of Cards and The Good Wife.
