Always a favourite on the fashion week calendar, By Johnny may have revolutionised the contemporary women’s wardrobe, after showcasing his collection at MBFWA.
Australian designer, Johnny Schembri presented a sophisticated collection, proving to be, once again, one of Fashion Week’s highlights. At this year’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, we saw By Johnny turn away from their signature pop colour and modern shape look. His new ‘airy’ approach gave a new direction for the fashion industry, with a selection of outfits requiring no, ahem, support. Open backs and open-cut jackets pave the way for innovation within the ever-changing industry.
The designer played with prints and geometric shapes to showcase a range of styles that was effortlessly attractive. The ever-popular black and white colour palette was diversified with a cowhide print and mixed print patterns. Oversize pleat pieces were the highlight of the show, in addition to the flirty pieces that revealed themselves as the show went on.
The asymmetric hemlines and spacious silhouettes allowed for the creation of some truly amazing pieces, as presented by Schembri. By Johnny’s youthful Resort ’17 collection impressed the audience on day three of the MBFWA runway.
