With a supermodel for a mother, it’s no surprise that 14 year-old Kaia Gerber has managed to land another high-profile fashion gig, having been announced as the new face of Italian fashion house, Miu Miu.
The brand released a 5-minute long fashion video on Monday for their Scenique eyewear campaign; with the daughter of legendary model Cindy Crawford, the only model to be featured.
The video begins with Gerber getting out of bed and casually strolling to the pool in a white tunic, her face remaining hidden for majority of the video. We soon see her swimming in a red one-piece which manages to maintain the teens youthful innocence in an otherwise slightly risqué video for someone of her age, with her long legs on display for everyone to see.
Her face remains unseen until the very end, when she emerges from the water in the brands new sunglasses as the credits begin to roll, before giving us one final look at the model relaxing on a pool float, the sunglasses remaining firmly on her face.
The Italian fashion house explained the young model served as the perfect model for the brand’s new campaign.
“With her butterfly lenses set into golden frames and dressed in precious pieces from the Miu Miu archive, fresh-faced Kaia Gerber perfectly encapsulates the maverick femininity of the Miu Miu girl.”
While this is perhaps the biggest fashion campaign the model has had in her young career, Gerber is no stranger to the camera. Beginning her career at the tender age of ten when she appeared in a Young Versace ad, the daughter of one of fashions original Supermodels has continued to establish herself as one to watch in the industry.
This year has proved to be her busiest yet, landing her first fashion campaign as the face of high-end label Chrome Hearts Spring/Summer season, as well as participating in photo-shoots with her model mother for Chrome Heart and Vogue magazines.
While she may still be referred to as ‘Cindy Crawford’s daughter’ by many, if her growing resume is anything to go by, it may not be long before Kaia Gerber is considered a supermodel in her own right.
