Two Door Cinema Club fans have been waiting in heavy anticipation ever since the indie rock band announced they would be releasing a new album titled Game Show back in mid June. On the same day of the announcement, the release date of October 14th was set and fans were given a tease with a new single from their upcoming album titled “Are We Ready” (Wreck). Since then fans have also been treated to two other singles titled “Bad Decisions” and “Game show”

After listening to all three singles, fans of the band will certainly recognise a new tone, tempo and style, attempting to create a hybrid of the band’s standard guitar riff style and new wave electronic music.

“Are We Ready” greets listeners with the comforting voice of band front-man Alex Trimble alongside a traditional Two Door Cinema Club guitar hook. The song’s tempo goes in waves and adds sprinkles of electronic synth beats that divert from the band’s usual pop-rock sound. It may take a few listens to catch on to their new cerebral pop approach.

Going on to their second track, “Bad Decisions” is an electronic induced disco-esque tune that is a complete diversion from anything Two Door Cinema Club has ever produced. Though the track may prove mixed with fans, it is a refreshingly new bold sound for the band that is enjoyable and will entice a boogie on the dance floor. The band released an accompanying music sketch video that is comical in nature and definitely reflects the new album’s vibe.

Their most recent single and titular track “Gameshow” is a hybrid of sombre tones and electric riffs, but sadly loses focus amidst the high pitched screeching vocals. The track lacks a certain cohesiveness and lyrical connectivity but is ambitious as an experimental effort.

With the album rapidly approaching on October 14th, fans should anticipate a variance in tracks that they haven’t yet seen from the band.
