Lead by Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio, the oldest models of the brand, Lily Aldridge, Kendall Jenner, Irina Shayk and sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid, have strutted in the annual runway show, which is scheduled to air on 6th December on CBS. For that reason, show organisers gave strict instructions that Tweeting, Instagramming, Facebooking or other social media was forbidden. But this was not enough.
The models did everything they could to `nail` their walks down the infamous runway: they blew kisses, made love and peace signs and waved excitedly to the audience. “Everyone here has a personality and the girls are amazing and this is going to be the best show ever. We’re gonna nail it, we got this!”, said Adriana Lima backstage before she walked as a Angel for the sixteenth time. “Since I’m not young anymore I have to work hard to keep up. I try to work out six days a week, even if it’s just twenty minutes, because it’s a lifestyle to work out”, she confesses.
The Weeknd, Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga, were the responsible for the soundtrack and gave spectacular performances of hits like “”Million Pieces”, “Chunky” and “Starboy”. It was during the Weeknd’s performance however that one of the most talked about moments of the fashion show took centre stage. The american singer serenaded his ex-girlfriend, Bella Hadid, right at the moment she walked through the catwalk of Victoria`s Secret Fashion Show for the first time. But it wasn’t awkward at all — the friendly pair smiled at each other during the runway run-in.
The show was divided into six themed sections; Road Ahead, Mountain Romance, Pink Nation, Secret Angel, Dark Angel and Bright Night Angel. Chinese prints, elaborate capes, over-the knee boots mixed with romantic laces were just some trends that the lingerie brand presented for their fans in the fashion show. One of the most special and anticipated moments was the entrance of Jasmine Tookes and the $3million Fantasy Bra. Created by jeweller Eddie Borgo, the piece has 9000 precious stones, taking 700 hours to create and weighing in at more than 450 carats. Earlier in the day, the model told ‘The Telegraphy’ that she started crying when she was told that she would be wearing the Fantasy bra.
“Growing up I watched all the Victoria’s Secret fashion shows and I looked up to Adriana (Lima), Tyra (Banks) and Heidi (Klum)…so it was an amazing moment when I was chosen to wear that bra.”
