Actress, director and fashion muse Chloë Sevigny, teams up with luxury online platform, Vestiaire Collective to launch a new vintage range on their website.
A long-time fan of Vestiaire Collective, the actress has a knack for combining any vintage clothing item in found her wardrobe. Her collection pays tribute to some of the most beautiful vintage pieces from the 90s New York art scene, to Martin Margiela, to 70s Yves Saint Laurent and her greatest inspiration; her mother. Instead of sporting fresh looks on the runway or donning the latest trends, the American Psycho star prefers to go ‘old school’.
Discussing her love for past fashion, Chloë expresses in an interview with Vestiaire collective, “vintage style evokes individuality” then new clothes and that she has always been “anti-fast fashion”.
“I feel young kids nowadays are appreciating old garments more and how they’re made and finding individuality in disposable fashion” – Chloë Sevigny (Vestiaire collective)
While she is open to buying high-end pieces, Chloë prefers finding items that are second hand, citing shops all over Los Angeles and New York. Wasteland and Tokio 7 are her go-to stores for vintage fashion. After growing up having one object that was well made (and well worn!), she also explained she sees vintage fashion as an eco-friendly alternative to the fast-fashion culture today. The environmental factor and quality matter more than quantity. You will never find a more earth conscious gal than Chloë!
According to Vogue, the Vestiaire’s vintage collection will feature selected pieces handpicked by the Sevigny herself. From 1940s fur coats, 1980s Saint Laurent lace blouses and Courreges vintage jackets, expect a treasure trove of luxury designer pieces from across all periods of fashion history
