What are the chances of a big time rapper releasing a fresh new track exclusively on a dying music platform? Pretty damn certain. Chance The Rapper has officially released his surprise new single ‘Big B’s’ featuring Young Thug on Soundcloud, despite rumours of the platform becoming so bankrupt, it may not make it to the end of August.
Soundcloud has flown a little too far under the radar lately as it fights to stay alive against heavyweights like Spotify and Apple Music. While Soundcloud has proven to be a great tool for small time music makers to upload tracks in the hopes of having their music listened to, it simply hasn’t been making enough money to stay afloat with no advertising and the ability to own an account, upload and stream all for free.
However, Soundcloud is apparently still hanging in there (for now). Upon the release of Chance The Rapper’s new track, the rapper tweeted, reiterating that the music platform is here to stay. This was accompanied by tweets from the service saying that they will continue to provide the platform to help people discover, share and connect with music.
