Cara Delevingne and Lily-Rose Depp are taking you to space in Chanel’s all new space-themed ad campaign shot by Karl Lagerfeld.
We all know Chanel’s reputation with their fashion shows. From replicating the Eiffel Tower for this year’s Couture Collection to a live rocket ship that took off during their 2017 Autumn/Winter show, we have to expect big things for their ad campaigns. Luckily for Karl Lagerfeld, creative director for Chanel, the French fashion house’s newest collection definitely lives up to expectation.
After tapping on the shoulders of dear friends Cara Delevingne and Lily-Rose Depp, the futuristic/outer space themed campaign is fantastic, showcasing all that is to love about the newest and future generations of fashion. While some other creative directors are obsessed with nostalgia and the past, Karl Lagerfeld is known to look to the future for inspiration and this campaign proves just that.
The wardrobe has set a strictly black and white aesthetic to the collection with an emphasis on a lot of chrome and metallic colours. Lagerfeld even talked about his appreciation for sparkle saying that it shouldn’t only be worn out at night.
“It’s very démoder (French word for out of fashion) to only think sparkle is for nightclubbing.  I think it is nice to use sparkle in the day time.” Karl Lagerfeld said to the Business of Fashion in March this year.
“We took off to space but I am the most down-to-Earth” Karl Lagerfeld joked. Â For more on the newest Chanel ad campaign, see their website here.
