Brawl in Cell Block 99
Directed by S. Craig Zahler, who brought us the 2015 horror-western Bone Tomahawk, the next US patriot film to surface this year is a brooding, violent tale starring an almost deadpan Vince Vaughan. Yes, you read that correctly. Vaughan slinks into this seemingly drab film as a former boxer turned prison inmate, after a criminal deal turns lethal.
Brawl in Cell Block 99 looks to be another 2017 release that tickles the confusing, and increasingly shady underbelly that is US patriotism. It looks dark, and admittedly we’re not completely sure what Don Johnson’s character is playing at yet but the idea of a solemn Vince Vaughan is just too intriguing to scroll past. Check out the trailer below, we’d love to hear your thoughts!

Super Troopers 2
Comedy group Broken Lizard are back once again as the altered-state police officers with their sequel to the comically brilliant and downright infamous 2001 cop cult classic, Super Troopers. Sixteen years later, after having successfully crowdfunded two million dollars for the sequel back in 2015, the Vermont Highway Patrol squad promises to deliver another stoner boner of a flick to screens on April 20, 2018 – yeap, that’s right on 420! Directed once again by Jay Chandrasekhar, and co-written with the rest of the troupe including Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanke – all also star in the sequel as they unwittingly deploy their unconventional policing tactics and have some ball-shaving fun. Check out the official Red Band trailer below and let us know what you think!

Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down The White House
Starring Liam Neeson, Diane Lane and Michael C. Hall, this film traces the tale of Mark Felt – a US Government ‘secret keeper’ who helped uncover the Watergate scandal of 1974. Slipping into the role of the dark and brooding operative “Deep Throat”, it’s unsurprising that the internet has been quick to slate Neeson’s performance as Oscar-worthy. It’s certainly interesting that the Watergate story is resurfacing now, particularly as tensions in the United States mount on a daily basis.
A premiere date is yet to be released, but we’ll be sure to keep our eagle eyes trained on this bold retelling!
