It’s rare to come across an electronic dance track that subtly evokes emotion through a string of poignant lyrics. ALTA wholly excels in creating a hypnotic new single with a stunningly raw message in ‘Figured Out’.
The Melbourne-based duo consisting of vocalist Hannah Lesser, and producer Julius Dowson, have been dubbed as one of the most exciting emerging acts to come out of Melbourne. And it’s no surprise. The pair has proven to be a force of creative uniqueness – fusing complete delicacy with booming percussion instrumentals.
Sinking into the rhythmic house trance that is ‘Figured Out’, the inescapable sense of fragility and vulnerability is unveiled, continuing ALTA’s voyage into producing emotive club symphonies. However the track runs deeper, with Lesser’s dreamy vocals dripping a story of love, longing and loss we can all relate to. Seemingly sweet as it is haunting, the single follows a massive 2017, with their singles ‘Fix It’, (their biggest to date), along with the equally encompassing track ‘Sentiment’.
Having kicked off 2018 playing Pitch Festival, the duo is a thriving act in Australia’s emerging music scene. After an electronic performance at this year’s Splendour in the Grass and Let Them Eat Cake, ALTA are catering their soft synth beats to the masses. Now with another slick single ‘Now You Want Me’ released, ALTA is ushering in a much welcomed revival for our local electronic dance scene.
Released with a devastatingly beautiful music video, ‘Figured Out’ will have you melting on the dance floor. Listen to the track here.
