VANS launched their latest Vault collaboration collection on June 29th with a shoe collection that honours artist Frida Kahlo.
The collection includes three silhouettes, each with a different piece Kahlo’s most influential artworks. The shoes aim to capture a piece of Kahlo’s style that is universally recognisable, celebrating her Mexican heritage and femininity in all its forms. Kahlo’s art remains influential today, inspiring biopics, biographies and exhibitions that explore the woman behind the striking portraits.
The VANS collection has been released just in time for the 65th anniversary of her death in collaboration with the Banco de Mexico and with permission from the Frida Kahlo Corporation. It is composed of; the OG Authentic LX x Viva La Vida (1954), the OG Sk8-Hi LX x The Two Fridas (1939) and the OG Slip On LX x Self Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird (1940).
The collection is available at selected retailers, listed here.
