RÜFÜS DU SOL have released a mesmerizing remix of Lastlings’ new track ‘No Time’ which envelops the already stunning song in an aura of entrancing house music.
Since their inception in 2010 RÜFÜS DU SOL have dominated the electronic music scene with Grammy nominations, headlining music festivals, chart-topping albums, and songs that are a fusion of dreamy, ambient, summer electronica. RÜFÜS took Lastlings under their wing discovering the duo in 2018 and signing them to their label Rose Avenue. The band has been a mentor to Lastlings ever since and even invited them to tour with them on their SOLACE World Tour in 2019.
This new remix is a head-spinning enigma that takes the listener into the depths of an electronically charged trance with strong synths that progress into an echoey chamber of euphoria. Amy Dowdell’s ethereal vocals make the song smooth and chilled-out yet the swirling beats that bring the strong bass to the song make it a danceable track. The detailed work on this remix is truly spectacular with an introspective and brooding sound that works into a deep pulsating beat making it a truly masterful club track. RÜFÜS don’t usually explore sounds of club and house but irrespective they have aced what will definitely be a dancefloor hit. Listen below.
Lastlings spoke about their new remix in a press statement explaining their excitement for the new RÜFÜS DU SOL track;
“‘No Time’ is one of our favourite songs from our upcoming album, so when we heard our friends and mentors RÜFÜS DU SOL were going to remix it, we were so excited about what they would create. The remix is an amazing journey and we absolutely love it! Eagerly waiting for the moment we’re back together moving to it on a packed dance floor.”
RÜFÜS DU SOL also spoke about their label Rose Avenue and their eagerness to remix Lastlings’ song;
“A few years ago when we first met Josh and Amy, they played us the demo for ‘No Time’ among others – we loved it – that bunch of demos was one of the things that pushed us to start the label we’d been talking about for a long time. We’re stoked to be able to put our spin on an already incredible track!”
Whilst in isolation RÜFÜS DU SOL have shared the new Lastlings remix in various livestreams for fans including the Beatport ReConnect stream in March and The Governors Ball stream in May. RÜFÜS aren’t strangers to reworking various songs for artists with this Lastlings track being the dance trio’s third remix following Foals’ ‘The Runner’ and ODESZA’s ‘It’s Only’.
Lastlings, which comprises of siblings Amy and Josh Dowdle, only released their track ‘No Time’ in July and have also shared a collection of new songs this year that should appear on the duo’s second album which is set to be released later this year. Lastlings co-wrote and co-produced their track ‘No Time’ with DJ and producer Cassian who shares the same ambient, spine-tingling electronic sound. The duo’s latest releases have not only been picked up by RÜFÜS but also by producers and DJs Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and Torren Foot.
In a press statement Lastlings conveyed the meaning behind their track, “‘No Time’ is about releasing yourself from negative thoughts, and growing from our disappointments and failures,” they said.
“It is also about living life to its fullest potential because, as cliché as it may be, life really is short and everything happens for a reason.”
