Perth’s indie-dance trio Crooked Colours have released an entrancing new single ‘Love Language’ that highlights the band’s ability to create pure emotion through the stunning sounds they create.
Incorporating atmospheric electronic sounds, ambient beats, and emotive vocals, this new single from Crooked Colours is a tropical dream that will most certainly carry us through to long summer days ahead.
The new electronica banger is much slower than previous Crooked Colours songs with soulful melodies and softer beats that have a hypnotic effect, entrancing the listener, soothing your spirit, and transporting you to better days.
The band have also released an atmospheric music video to accompany the new release featuring a performance from the trio amongst neon-lighting as well as beautifully tranquil underwater scenes.
“This song is about the different ways in which we communicate our love for each other,“ says vocalist-guitarist Philip Slabber about the new song. “How special it is to find someone that speaks the same love language as you. It’s a celebration of the uniqueness of relationships.”
Leon Debaughn on keys added, “I think it’s important to release a song like this right now. There’s a lot of hate and shit going on the world. There should be some more love.”
‘Love Language’ is Crooked Colours’ first release for 2020 following their 2019 sophomore LP, Langata, which gained huge success reaching top 10 on the ARIA Album Charts, and #1 on the Dance Album Charts.
The trio have an upcoming national tour in September with the band mentioning on an earlier Instagram post that the tour will be “the biggest and best shows we’ve ever put on”. The tour was originally set for April and May however this was postponed to September due to the Covid-19. Crooked Colours will be performing at the Hordern Pavillion in Sydney, Festival Hall in Melbourne, Centenary Warehouse in Perth, and Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane.
The band also participated in the live music event WA Unlocked as Western Australia enjoyed the perks of eased COVID-19 restrictions. Taking place in Perth’s HBF Stadium in July, Crooked Colours shared the stage with other WA locals Slumberjack, ShockOne, and Tina One.
