Jordan Barrett, named “Model It Boy of the new Era” by Vogue, has successfully made his way into acting, playing the lead actor in George Maple’s ground-breaking, digital theatre piece “Myth”!
Barrett, who has been likened to Kate Moss with his rapid ascent into the upper echelons of fashion, has dominated the stage in 2020 with as much as fervour as the runway. Barrett played several leading roles this year but most notably Maple’s latest work “Myth” which blurs the lines between film and live performance as it follows the intimate story of two lovers in a futuristic, genetically engineered society.
Luna, played by Maple herself, and Sol, played by Barrett, meet in a palace before their passionate romance ultimately fractures and shifts courses.
Barrett and Maple first met on the set of Maple’s music video for “Lover” and they’ve been friends ever since. The two ran into each other in several parts of the world, from Sydney to LA to New York where Barrett mentioned he was interested in exploring in acting.
A few months later Maple created “Myth,” saying on Instagram that Barrett “was a perfect fit for the male lead” because of his “incredibly powerful presence on camera.” Barrett completely embodied the sexy, arrogant character of Sol with the intensity and angst the role demanded.
Barrett’s youthful confidence paired with Maple’s emotional, expressive performance created a synergic passion that stunned audiences in Sydney Opera House.
Maple recounted on her Instagram that the premiere had left her “completely overwhelmed” and that she was grateful for the energetic reception.
Whilst the turbulent, psychedelic love story has already been performed at the Opera House, the accompanying album by the same title, MYTH, is still available to listen to here!
