New music from Grammy Award winning artists Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak.
Bruno Mars, in collaboration with Anderson .Paak as part of Silk Sonic have released a new single. The soulful, mid-tempo ‘Leave the Door Open’ is reminiscent of Bruno Mars’ previous compositions.
Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars alternate singing the main vocals whilst harmonies from the accompanying band are interspersed between. And Anderson .Paak provides vocals for the more mellow moments within the composition. Meanwhile, Bruno Mars takes on the higher register of the song. The artist emphasises the song’s title through a transition from vibrant vocals into a breathy falsetto. Percussion and Keyboard round out the melody. The overall song exudes a playful sensuality and exhibits the performers’ skill.
Accolades
Bruno Mars made headlines in 2018 after taking home multiple Grammys in prominent categories. His song ’24K Magic’ won the award for Record of the Year. Additionally, the album, also titled 24K Magic, received both Album of the Year and Best R&B Album. Furthermore, his composition ‘That’s What I Like’ took home Song of the Year, Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song.
Anderson .Paak has been recently thriving in the music business. The artist’s song Bubblin won the Grammy for Best Rap Performance in 2019. In 2020, the songwriter continued his success with Grammy wins for two of his compositions. Ventura won Best R&B Album whilst Come Home (feat Andre 3000) won ‘Best R&B Performance.

The music video for ‘Leave the Door Open’ was uploaded to ‘Bruno Mars’, the artist’s official YouTube channel, on the 5thof March. It depicts the accompanists and members of Silk Sonic in a recording studio dressed into retro attire as they perform the single.
Reception
After just a couple of days, the video has already garnered over 19 million views. The song also scaled up the ranks to reach number 1 on the US iTunes charts.

The song is part of a set of music created by Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak as part of a new album. An Evening with Silk Sonic will debut as the band’s first album together. In addition to their new song the duo have also included an intro track. The group plan to release the album in its entirety during 2021.
