Since her last album, Melodrama, in 2017, Lorde has come back and graced her fans with the title track ‘Solar Power’. The singer has also confirmed the release of her third studio album.
Following a pause in her career following the death of her dog, Pearl, Lorde has come back with new single ‘Solar Power’. Co-produced and co-written with producer Jack Antonoff, the singer has described the track in her mailing list as an “infectious, flirtatious summer energy that takes hold of us all”.
With the release of this track, Lorde has also announced the release of her third studio album, also titled Solar Power. She personified her album as
“a modern girl in a deadstock bikini, in touch with her past and her future, vibrating at the highest level when summer comes around”.

In her latest interview with Triple J, the singer also announced that she has many more music videos to come following the album’s release, filmed on the same beach location as the ‘Solar Power’ music video.
The album cover of the track has also garnered lots of online attention, as it features a low angle shot of the singer’s backside.
“My best mate Ophelia took the cover photo, lying on the sand as I leapt over her, both of us laughing”, the singer wrote in her mailing list.
Lorde was also aware of the memes surrounding her cover art, telling Triple J
“they were very funny, I liked them. I’m so out of touch with meme culture but I’m down. I have no regrets. I love this cover and [am] happy for this to be how people see my butt.”
While there is no official release date for the album, Lorde has told fans to “look to the natural calendar for clues”. Following the release of the title track on the same date as this year’s solar eclipse, fans have been theorising the album’s release for the 20th of June, the date of the Northern Hemisphere’s Summer Solstice.
