On the press trail for Dune, stars Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet have lived up to their reputations as the ones to watch.
The Warner Bros. 2021 feature Dune reintroduces the classic sci-fi novel to film and television audiences. It debuted at No. 1 in both the United States and Canada during the weekend.
Per Bloomberg, Comscore Inc. reported Monday that “Dune” grossed $41 million in its North American theatrical opening. This is the studio’s biggest opening weekend of the year, exceeding gross expectations by $30 million.
The Ones To Watch
Dune stars Zendaya and Timothee Chalamet have become style icons to watch over recent years. As expected, the press trail has been full of high-fashion moments, with looks courtesy of designers Balmain, Vivienne Westwood, Alaia, Haider Ackerman and Stella McCartney.
On the trail, Chalamet perpetuates his affinity for modern suits, displaying looks in graphic patterns, as always, taking a fresh perspective on contemporary menswear. The pair most recently attended the Dune photocall in looks which impressed fans in London on Saturday.
At the call, Chalamet wears a custom blue and white Stella McCartney suit. It is patterned in the designer’s fungi print, inspired by a look in McCartney’s 2022 ready-to-wear collection.
Zendaya sports a chain-mail embellished Vivienne Westwood, with a checkered skirt designed by Andreas Kronthaler from the brand’s SS20 collection. It is hand-painted with natural dye from Burkina Faso and created in collaboration with the Ethical Fashion Initiative.
Futuristic Looks
On Monday night, the couple in London to attend the Dune premiere in high-fashion apparel. Their futuristic looks turned heads, complementing the characters own looks from the film. Zendaya wearing a warrior-inspired Rick Owens asymmetrical dress and Chalamet appearing in an all-black Alexander McQueen black suit, featuring silver zippers. Zendaya paired the look with Bulgari Serpentine diamond jewellery, finishing the night at the event’s afterparty in a lingerie-style dress by the LVMH Prize winner Nensi Dojaka.
Chalamet has been a leading man to watch since his breakout appearance in the 2017 film Call Me by Your Name. The star often opts for vivid colours, graphic designs, and new interpretations of the conventional black suit. His street-meets-high-fashion look was also on display during the Venice Film Festival’s picture call, where he wore a brown leather tracksuit by Ackermann.
Chalamet and Zendaya attended a screening of the film in Paris during the Venice Film Festival, where Chalamet wore a cobalt blue Tom Ford suit and Zendaya wore a two-piece plum-colored set with feather embellishments from Alaa’s spring 2022 rtw line.
With Dune hitting cinemas, we are anticipating more high-fashion moments from Chalamet and Zendaya throughout the remainder of the publicity tour.
