Paris Fashion Week Men’s SS23 promises plenty of surprises this week. Some of the biggest names make a strong comeback this year. With the final Covid-19 restrictions lifting, Paris Fashion Week returns back to normal for the first time in almost 3 years.

One of the biggest surprises is the Hedi Slimane comeback, Creative Director of Celine. Slimane has previously made it known that official shows were ‘obsolete’. However, the Creative Director is set to become the closing sensation of the week. Joining him, are US designers Tom Browne and Mathew Williams of Givenchy. The week has a promising air to it.

Paris is hosting runway shows by menswear giants like Louis Vuitton, Rick Owens, Loewe, Thom Browne and Dior Homme. A variety of newcomers also make their debut this week. Keep an eye on Y/Project by Glenn Martens and Grace Wales Bonner, Bluemarble, Bianca Saunders and KidSuper.

DAY ONE HIGHLIGHT:

DAY TWO:

GENDER AND FASHION

The ongoing expression of gender-fluid fashion is still a high topic of discussion. As a result of the debate, Paris finds itself a middle ground. As opposed to London who has removed the divide between men’s and women’s shows. On the other end of the spectrum, Milan is still to come into the 21st century and acknowledge that the fashion world is evolving. Their fear of undermining the traditional male-focused brands has got them stuck.

However, there is a dedication to traditional menswear this year at Paris Fashion Week. Paris will have a mix of both traditional male and gender-fluid pieces.

One example of this is the Thursday show. Alexandre Mattiussi – founder of Ami – is set to present a show worthy of catering to both genders.
