The president of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy praises Leslye’s appreciation of the franchise.

“[She] is a gigantic Star Wars fan. What’s wonderful about Leslye is she knows it all. I mean, she’s read a gazillion books inside the expanded universe.

“There are little bits and pieces that she’s drawing from that no one has explored yet in the onscreen storytelling.”

A Sinister Confrontation

The official synopsis depicts  the series as a:

This spin-off will be unique to the Star Wars universe, taking place in a time we have never seen on screen. At this point, the film takes place approximately 100 years before any of the prequels. Consequently, Acolyte takes place in the High Republic Era.

The show description explains it as a mystery thriller that will take a darker and more sinister tone. This is similar to “Andor”, which is another Star Wars spin-off circa 2022.

The show follows “a former Padawan [reuniting] with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.”

“It’s a Sith-led story, which has never been done before”,

says actor Dafne Keen.
