Prada inaugurates the brand new Prada Caffè in Harrods, London.
The brand-new Prada Caffè boasts an atmosphere that celebrates the brand’s trademark green tint – resembling one of Milan’s oldest patisseries.
The Facade
The Prada Caffè is pure Prada – with its mint green lattice façade, mirroring Harrods’ Edwardian baroque terracotta exterior on the intersection of Hans Road in London.
Its pale-green decor and green velvet upholstery furnishings draw inspiration from Pasticceria Marchesi, a famous Milanese bakery from 1824. The floor modelling comes by way of the famous Prada boutique on Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan. And the flowery bas-reliefs on the walls are inspired by some of Prada’s major stores across the world.
Prada on Display
Prada chooses tableware to complement the surroundings. The decor ranges from pale-blue Japanese porcelain to blown-glass crystal glassware; including the Triangle series with its quintessentially Prada triangular pattern.
A huge marble countertop sits at the cafe’s entrance to display Prada-branded patisseries stacked like pieces of jewellery. The floors were covered in black and white chequered floor tiles to pay respect to the flooring of the Prada store in Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.
The Menu
The menu provides a delicate, modern spin on Italian tradition. It ranges from breakfast to evening drinks, with sandwiches and risotto. Buffalo mozzarella, salmon, crab entrees, and spritz, and negroni-based aperitifs complement the list of trademark cocktails. The wine list spans the whole country of Italy, with selections ranging from Sicily to Piedmont.
And pastries take centre stage, combining craftsmanship with creative techniques and traditional ingredients – resulting in contemporary aromas and sensations.
