If you’re looking to dress up as a Minecraft character or to confuse some strangers, we have just the thing for you. LOEWE Spring/Summer 2023 presents a creative take on traditional silhouettes using a boxy pixelated style in its Pixel Collection.
LOEWE debuted the collection on the runway at Paris Fashion Week last year in September/October. Unlike many of the other designs at this show, these pieces appear quite stiff and ridged. Explicit anthurium motifs dominated the rest of the show with light, flowy and feminine pieces.Â
Consequently, the pixel capsule sparked anticipation for its additions to the LOEWE website and stores. We expected nothing less from trompe l’oeil designer Jonathan Anderson. The unique pixel art plays with traditional fashion concepts and the modern digital world. It reflects a society where AI is in its prime years of development by holding up a mirror to where we started.Â
What Does it Entail?
In a lookbook captured by Jules Moskovtchenko, we see a range of statement pieces mimicking the 2D video game style. From denim, hoodies, T-shirts, and the iconic Puzzle bag – they’ve covered it all. Their Anagram pixellated T-shirt (pictured above on the right) is the cheapest of the collection at $855. From there, the pieces range within the thousands starting at $1295 to $5100.
Looking familiar?
Unsurprisingly, the collection is perfect for catching the eye of the paparazzi as A-lister A$AP Rocky is seen wearing the pixelated hoodie on a night out with Rihanna. He styles the hoodie with beige wide-leg khakis, a camo beanie, and fluffy boots, of which are from the LOEWE Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2021 Collection. A$AP is frequently spotted repping LOEWE over the years. He made many appearances wearing pieces from LOEWE SS22 and FW19 collections last year.
All things considered, we eagerly await the menswear Pixel drop coming this July. Hopefully, we will see both footwear and accessories in this unique style to add to the eight pieces we already have to create a well-rounded lookbook.
