Rapper IDK’s New Track on Police Prejudice
Rapper IDK (stands for Ignorantly Delivering Knowledge), has released a new song called “Mr Police”.
The accompanying music video is a compilation of clips showing American police officers verbally and physically harassing seemingly innocent African Americans.
Some of the lyrics include “I know my rights, I’m no fool”, demonstrating the powerlessness this minority group feels in the face of the police system.
Both the lyrics and the video reveal the harsh reality of people of colour’s daily life experiences.
IDK says:
“We want to create awareness in order to prompt dialogue and potentially change the narrative around law enforcement misconduct.”
His new album F65 is out in a few weeks.
Listen to and share “Mr Police” now.
Nike’s Latest Collab with Popular Mexican Soda Brand
Ever thought of wearing a shoe that worships Jarritos? Neither did we.
Featuring Jarritos’ distinctive colours orange and green, the new Nike shoe screams Mexican soda.
The tear-away canvas overlays add dynamism to the shoe that spotlights the Jarritos green Swoosh. A small graphic of a jug pouring Jarritos’ classic Mandarin soda brings the shoe to life. On top of that, the insoles are covered in fruit drawings, creating a cartoonish vibe.
It is a funky, fresh and playful item designed to get you on your toes.
The new Jarritos x Nike SB Dunk Low is expected to hit stores on May 6.
London Immortalises Vivienne Westwood
To honour the late Vivienne Westwood and her unmatched fashion legacy, the British House is launching “Vivienne Westwood: Corsets – 1987 to Present Day”.
The exhibition will showcase the brand’s iconic silhouette by displaying her memorable runway looks that subverted underwear into outerwear. It will also present Andreas Kronthaler’s reimagined versions of the garment.
Spectators will be able to see the incredible impact Vivienne Westwood made on fashion and connect her work with culture and art as a whole.
A limited-edition jewellery collection will also feature, which includes “Time Machine”, a 3D charm of the Westwood Portrait corset in gold. You can buy the exclusive items here.
‘Vivienne Westwood: Corsets – 1987 to Present Day’ will be on exhibit from May 8 to 21 in London. You can view parts of the gallery here.
Tiffany & Co Goes Harder Than Ever
In celebration of the revamp of Tiffany & Co’s New York City flagship store, the deluxe brand has released four limited-edition watches.
The watches feature dials with the classic Tiffany & Co’s logo at the 10 o’clock mark, as opposed to 12 o’clock, where it usually resides. Furthermore, the 5 and 6 o’clock are replaced with ‘727’ at the bottom the dial to acknowledge the 727 Fifth Avenue address.
Clearly the main purpose of these watches is not to tell the time!
The exclusive pieces are limited to only 100 per design, with prices ranging from $10000 USD to $35000 USD.
The final watch is a price-upon-request item. Drowning in diamonds, Washington Square inspires the piece. The hour markers mimic the park’s fountain and the diamond bracelet reflects the hexagon-shaped pavement. Now that’s what I call a masterpiece.
Unfortunately, if you were planning on forking out for one of Tiffany’s decadent watches, you willl have to visit the NYC boutique store!
Jacquemus Ventures Into Homeware
French fashion brand Jacquemus is collaborating with Italian furniture business ‘Extexta’ on their first ever line of furniture and homeware.
The collection makes reference to Gae Aulenti’s well-known chair collection “Locus Solus”. Jacquemus, therefore, utilises pastel colours and creates a sleek yet vintage feel to its pieces.
The final product is a reflection of these inspirations and the designer’s personal creative process, forming “an eclectic line of adornments for the home and body”.
The designer chooses soft, summery colours of yellows, pinks, oranges, blues and greens, along with leather and gold accessories.
