Artists as far back as ancient times have been fascinated with what was considered ‘the ideal’ in human form.
Women have long been objectified and sexualised, and much has been covered there. But the idea of the ‘ideal male’ is a far less explored genre.
Our series “SUPER NATURAL – FASHIONING THE IDEAL MAN” explores the notion of male perfection.
We travel in time through history, through the movements of the 60’s, the 70’s, the 80’s and 90’s, right up to the present day. And along the way we look at imaging, race, body type, exploitation, sexual preferences, even ‘the casting couch’ to explore the changing notion of ‘the ideal man’.
And along the way for the very first time, we meet with and take a deep dive into the lives and stories of the most celebrated ‘male beauty’ icons of all time.
