Kanye West had an eventful last week. After canceling his remaining Saint Pablo tour dates, offending Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Hillary Clinton, West stated on stage during his San Jose show that if he voted, he would have voted for Donald Trump. But on Sunday he still had some time to recreate his newly activated Instagram account that he started in October…
He introduced his fans to the new page with a screenshot picture from Total Recall, a sci-fi movie from the 1990s. Now the rapper and designer took it a step further and uploaded 99 non-high resolution, vintage pictures of Maison Margiela’s older look books and collections, including traditional Margiela elements, split toe and perspex heeled ankle boots as well as some more unknown designs of the designer brand.

None of the images have a caption and the account unveils nothing about his canceled US tour. Fair enough that most of his fans got confused. His Instagram fanbase now created a new hashtag, saying #prayforkanye.
In fact Kanye loves Margiela. He even included the brand within his lyrics and music video for “Ni**as in Paris” and collaborated with the brand for his Yeezus tour. Even in some of his own collections, the Paris-based label’s characteristics were revisited. Within an interview for Style.com he stated:
“You see Raf Simons right there, you see Helmut, you see Margiela, you see Vanessa (Beecroft), you see Katharine Hamnett. It’s blatantly right there.”
Now it seems that he created a whole mood board with the designer’s yet unknown masterpieces – maybe as a source of inspiration for his next collection? We will probably never understand why Kanye does what he does, but before he joined Instagram, he stated the following: “No one can ask me or try to tell me what to Instagram. It’s my art.”
