Almost a decade after his death, Heath Ledger’s story is still being told. The charming, ever-loved actor, known mostly for his roles as The Joker in The Dark Knight and Patrick in 10 Things I Hate About You is getting his own documentary.
Spike TV announced they would be releasing the new feature-length documentary about the Australian actor’s short life and death in May 2017. The doco-series, I Am, profiles celebrities and public figures. I Am typically features interviews with people that were close to the featured subject. A specific list of who is being interviewed to chronicle his life has not yet been released. Previous episodes have covered Bruce Lee and Chris Farley; just to name a few.
Ledger died from an accidental overdose in New York in 2008, just after wrapping up filming for The Dark Knight. The film would earn him his posthumous Oscar for his outstanding performance as The Joker.
I Am: Heath Ledger will air on cable channel Spike TV in the US but it has not been announced whether the series will make it to Australian television in the near future. A definitive date is yet to be set with May being the only time frame fans have.
