Sydney-born crooner Dean Lewis has announced he will be embarking on his ‘Lose My Mind’ National tour, riding off the success of his headline shows earlier in the year.
The triple j presented tour (with support by Samsaruh and Jack Gray) will see Lewis make waves across the country – notably dropping into Perth and Adelaide, oft-forgotten locales on the national tour route – with stops at Spilt Milk (Canberra) and Vanfest (Forbes).
Speaking with FIB earlier in the year, Lewis candidly discussed having an early lack of faith in his ability – even penning a few songs that echo the overwhelming sense of “not feeling good enough” – and yet for someone that “didn’t even have aspirations to do this”, Lewis has certainly taken the Aus music scene by storm.
It should come as no surprise that Lewis’ newest single and title track of his national tour, ‘Lose My Mind’, could very well be his favourite track on the EP and the next best breakup ballad,
“…losing my mind or out of my mind seems to be a recurring theme, I don’t know why.”
Lewis describes the track as a nod to that feeling of being on the verge of loss and acknowledging you can’t live without someone. The heart-wrenching singer-songwriter is no stranger to writing about love and loss – his single ‘Waves’ tackles losing one’s youth – so it will be interesting to see if his whirlwind introduction to the Aussie music scene can be sustained on this moody nevertheless soulful premise.
