In a timely fashion to the release of The Beatles: Get Back documentary, is another McCartney project- Stella McCartney x The Beatles.
It’s a limited collection by Stella herself, inspired by a series of lesser-known Beatles images and graphics. The collection became available on the 19th of November, coinciding with the documentary release on Disney +.
The collaboration draws on the iconography from some of the band’s most famed albums including Let it be, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, and The Fool. It’s otherworldly band merch. The capsule boasts silk embroidered bombers and monochrome print canvas bucket hats. Psychedelic soft cotton sweaters and printed cotton-jersey wide-leg track pants. Each piece is a separate draw on one of the bands better-known records. It’s vivid. It’s fantastic.
Stella intended to honour the unique family link with the collaboration, making it “beyond a ‘normal’ collaboration in that respect”.
“It’s so important to create pieces that people are going to cherish and have an emotional connection with,” Stella says. “These are collectibles”, she continues. The entire collection is unisex and developed upholding the same sustainability standards as her main lines.
One cannot predict how long the collection will last. But as a collaboration so matchless, we can suspect, not long.
