According to reports, Ye has been dropped by the Hollywood talent agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA) as a result of his recent anti-Semitic remarks. This news comes after a series of losses for the “Black Skinhead” star, including Balenciaga, Adidas and JP Morgan Chase.
CAA has ended its working relationship with Kanye West as a result of the backlash stemming from his anti-Semitic remarks on social media and in recent interviews, according to a source. The artist now known as Ye’s antisemitic outbursts and provocations are raising questions about how much offensive behaviour organisations are ready to tolerate from a proven cash cow.
According to other reports, Ye’s record label, G.O.O.D. Music is no longer working with Def Jam Records. It’s unknown whether the split comes in response to Ye’s recent anti-Semitic remarks; as his contract with the label expired after Donda’s release in 2021.
At this stage, we’re all aware of Ye’s antics and outbursts. Especially in the music industry. He was disinvited from performing at the Grammy Awards last spring due to his erratic and unpredictable behaviour. He also withdrew from headlining this year’s Coachella festival in the weeks leading up to the event.
Now, Ye appears to have emboldened a hate group to post anti-Semitic signs on Los Angeles’ Interstate 405 highway.
Ye Jumps From Bad to Worse
The Ye controversy is becoming such a point of contention that JPMorgan Chase has ended its banking relationship with YEEZY. The fashion industry is clearly starting to disentangle itself from the rapper too, after almost a decade of triumphs. The former halo effect of his celebrity is starting to wane, particularly after his latest Paris Fashion Week stunt; wearing a shirt that reads “White Lives Matter”. Shortly thereafter, he engaged in an online feud with Vogue global fashion editor, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson. He then went on to make antisemitic remarks on social media and in a series of interviews, tweeting that he would go “death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.”
French multinational corporation Kering also officially announced last week that Balenciaga has ended its relationship with Ye, stating,
“Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist.”
Ye opened up for Balenciaga in Paris earlier this month, however, since then, the label has deleted him from its pictures and videos of the show. A variety of photographs has also disappeared from Vogue Runway. And Skims, headed by Ye’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, describes him as a “small minority shareholder” and says that he has “no active role at Skims.” Adidas also jumped on board this week, revealing that it is cutting ties with Kanye West.
