Pharrell Williams has announced a new book, published by Rizzoli New York. It explores the process behind his collection of custom-made jewels.
He scheduled a book signing at Cravan, one of the trendiest cocktail bars in the French city. Yoon Ahn, the designer for Ambush, and Sarah Andelman, the creator of Colette, were amongst the attendees supporting the Louis Vuitton creative director. Others include Olympic & European fencing champion Enzo Lefort, French chef Jean Imbert, and singer Dev Hynes.
The new book titled ‘Pharrell: Carbon, Pressure & Time: A Book of Jewels’, will dive into the musician’s self-described “costly habit”. Featuring more than 100 of his own unique pieces , it will examine the significance of jewellery and its role in Williams’ life. The book recounts the artist’s love with jewellery. It includes items from the “unauthorised” Casio G-Shock watches to the gem-encrusted N.E.R.D Brain pendants made with Louis Vuitton.
Rizzoli’s editor, Ian Luna, explained that the book is “the first monograph of a connoisseur of the [hip-hop jewelry] space, on an individual creator within [it]. Like everything else that he’s done, you know, [Williams] has innovated within this fashion space.”
The book also features conversations in tandem with Kenzo creative director NIGO, as well as Ahn and Verbal of Ambush, with jewelers Lorraine Schwartz and Jacob Arabo and even with Tiffany & Co. executive vice president Alexandre Arnault.
Pharrell: Carbon, Pressure & Time: A Book of Jewels is now available for purchase from Rizzoli.
