Fendi Recruits Stars to Revamp Iconic Handbag

To celebrate a new store opening in New York, Fendi has just recruited some new designers to give their iconic Baguette handbag a modern makeover, and you will be very excited to know just who these fashion savvy designers are.

Fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker, pop star Rihanna and model Jourdan Dunn are among those given the opportunity to personalise their own versions of the Baguette – now the 3Baguette – along with Man Repeller blogger Leandra Medine and comedian Rachel Feinstein.

Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi are collaborating with the selected muses to honour the opening of their new flagship store on Madison Avenue. The final products are due to be revealed at a cocktail event next month, and will then be on display in the new store from February 13 to March 13 before each item is auctioned off for each star’s chosen charity.

The luxury label’s chairman and CEO, Pietro Beccari has spoken highly of the project, and of course of their Fendi customers. “The Fendi customer is active in different fields and engaged socially. There is not only one kind of woman and they are each excellent in their own field. It’s a celebration of femininity,” Beccari has said. “They had free rein, choosing their favorite colours, favoring their own personal tastes. It also shows that nothing is impossible with the incredible artisans at Fendi.”

The proceeds from Sarah Jessica Parker’s handbag will go to the Brain Trauma Foundation; Jourdan’s to The Sickle Cell Disease Association of America; Leandra’s to The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund; Rachel’s to the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Centre at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and Rihanna’s proceeds will be going to her own charity, The Clara Lionel Foundation, which the singer established in 2012.
