“It’s Miss, Actually”: Natalie Portman as Dior’s Stunning Runaway Bride

Sorry Julia Roberts, but Natalie Portman is now the most perfect runaway bride the world has ever seen, and all in the name of fashion! Dior has transformed Miss Portman into the glamorous and flawless bride for the label’s most loved fragrance, Miss Dior, and the result is simply astonishing.

The film was shot and directed by photographer Anton Corbijn against the breathtaking backdrop of the French Riviera, and portrays a doubtful yet totally stunning bride-to-be in an equally as stunning Dior Couture gown.

With scenes alternating between vivid colour and black and white, a story of freedom unfolds as Miss Dior flees her picturesque Cote D’Azur wedding ceremony, much to the disappointment of her father, to eventually make her getaway thanks to a circling helicopter.

“The story is about escaping, about getting away from all the things that tie you down in life,” director Corbijn told Vogue. “Natalie Portman was fantastic. She is real, she’s genuine. You can see it on the screen, and people relate to it. I think that this ‘truth’ is more important than beauty. Being a beautiful woman is not enough. She’s a real person, a good person, and her personality makes the difference.”

The Black Swan star wore the handcrafted flower-embellished Dior Couture gown – which incredibly took more than 600 hours to create in the luxury label’s atelier – before stripping off to reveal a chic little black dress during the liberated bride’s run to freedom, which played out in tune to the feminist anthem of Janis Joplin’s “Piece of My Heart”.

“To me, this story gives her a chance to become a true character: multi-levelled, involved and heroic,” Corbijn has said. “The story of a singularly beautiful and inspiring woman taking the boldest of steps towards a future that is wholly hers.”

The Oscar-winning actress is a regular in the glamorous world of Christian Dior. Portman has been a brand ambassador since 2010 and has been part of several creative collaborations with the iconic luxury label. She also recently made a front row appearance at the Dior show for Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week with her husband Benjamin Millepied.
