Three Weeks In The Life Of Coco Chanel

With the establishment of her eponymous fashion label, legendary designer Coco Chanel illuminated a silhouette of women’s fashion that endures to the modern day.

Her influence extended beyond timeless couture clothing. Chanel’s signature aesthetic is elegantly displayed through her lines of jewellery, fragrances and handbags. The brand has been credited with liberating women from the constraints of the ‘corset silhouette’ and changing the feminine standard of fashion in the years following the First World War.

The very name Coco Chanel is synonymous with determination, success and social prominence.

In 1962, this icon of fashion was captured in a series of intimate photos taken over the space of 21 days. Eminent US photographer Douglas Kirkland lived with Chanel in Paris, France during the conception, capturing her personal and public life in a manner never before seen with the prestige designer.
