Sherlocked For Next Year

To the excruciating impatience and disappointment radiating from the fans, it has been announced that BBC’s Sherlock will begin filming its fourth season sometime between March and May next year. Co-creator Steve Moffat confirmed the news, saying that season four “is going to be… I suppose you’d say… consequences. It’s consequences.” He also added: “It’s dark in some ways – obviously it’s great fun and a Sherlock Holmes romp and all that – but there’s a sense of things coming back to bite you.”

I can hear fans crying in the distance already. Well, it has been two years since the last season ended. Like the previous seasons, numero quatre will have three 90-minute episodes.

It’s likely that the fourth season will air in 2017, but we don’t know for sure, especially given that the the stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman will be busy with other projects – Cumberbatch preoccupied with Doctor Strange and Jungle Book: Origins while Freeman with Captain America: Civil War.

To appease fans in the meantime, it has been announced that there will be a special episode involving time travel back to the Victorian era. Yep, you read that right. The standalone episode is scheduled to air around Christmas this year.
