Jess Hart’s New Runway

For a girl with a working history behind her of gracing magazines like Dolly and Vogue, and even Victoria’s Secret, you would expect Jess Hart to have her head up in the clouds. On the contrary, she is the exception…

Hart is without question a highly regarded model and business woman that dominates runways left and right, but with recent news of her partnering with travel giant Qantas, we might see her owning a very different type of runway soon.

Qantas, responsible for flying Aussies all over Australia and internationally for almost a century has definitely had time to create quite a distinct brand for themselves. Over the years Qantas has kept relevant by using famous celebrities to represent them – but this is nothing new; John Travolta and Cathy Freeman are two familiar faces you might recognise next to the little red and white kangaroo.

Models have been gaining an increasing amount of ground in the business world and now, more than ever, are they being recruited for a variety of diversified roles. Qantas announced just days ago that they’ll have the down-to-earth Aussie, Jess Hart, as the newest addition to their team as a trend advisor.

Hart isn’t the only Aussie-born model to represent the brand though. Back in 2012, megastar Miranda Kerr was announced to be a Qantas Ambassador. Back then she was responsible for revamping the fashionable side of stewarding and she had her hand at designing the airlines new uniforms… Qantas has clearly always had a knack for choosing iconic people to represent them.

Fashion and international travel seemingly get on pretty well and with Qantas being as innovative as they are we are excited to see how the newly opened role as trend advisor will shape the travel industry. Because of the nature of her career, Hart does spend a lot of her time up in the air travelling – and she does so sporting effortless style.

Hart, known for her iconic beachy waves, unique smile and fresh face is the epitome of what one wants to resemble as soon as they get off their (usually not-so-short) flight. Due to her international exposure she was a natural choice for the position, and it is speculated that her fashionable flair will be the kick-start that is needed for this new sector of branding.

This leaves us to wonder now, what will Hart be doing in her new role as a trend advisor?

Hart will be responsible for using her experience as a well-travelled international fashion guru to combine fashion and travel to produce chic lifestyle trends. Her creations will be offered to reward Qantas’s Frequent Flyers after they have achieved a certain amount of points. Hart’s first project is a collaboration with leading Australian scarf designers, Bird and Knoll. They will be co-producing a beautiful scarf in part of their campaign embodying what it feels like to be home.

Qantas’s representative Olivia Wirth noted that: “Qantas has a long history of being fashion forward, from our early uniform designs to our current Martin Grant designed outfits, our Kate Spade amenity kits and our award-winning Marc Newson designed Lounges and aircraft interiors.”

So with that being said it seems Qantas has mastered the art of collaboration to produce luxury goods for their customers and ensure customer base retention. They’re a company that is very receptive to customer inter-activeness with their brand, which seems to be serving them pretty well; they are the third oldest airline in the world.

Being an international supermodel who needs to fly on a regular basis, and with her previous and ongoing work with massive and well-known labels we think the fit couldn’t be better. We all expect big things from the former Victoria’s Secret model, but working with Qantas will without a doubt take her career to new heights.
