Kanye Tastes His Own Medicine, Realises its Actually Poison

On Saturday evening, June 27, 2015, justice was served. It has been six years since Kanye West at the 2009 Video Music Awards interrupted Taylor Swift, and at The Glastonbury Festival this year, Kanye got Kanye’d. Poor Kanye, my heart bleeds for this injustice.

The road from 2009 to present day has shown real life character development for one Taylor Swift, with her music evolving, her lyrics maturing, and her newfound unapologetic feminist values that have sparked so many young girls and women to find their own voices, slowly turning Swift into an icon. Kanye West, on the other hand, is falling deeper and deeper into the pond in which he fell in love with his own reflection, and will soon drown in his self-fulfilling prophecies.

British comedian Lee Nelson stormed the stage while Kanye began “Black Skinhead”, at the beginning of what appeared to be a seamless set. West stopped rapping as a security guard escorted Nelson offstage, and when the audience had calmed down, restarted the song and his set. “Leezus” later tweeted that he Kanye’d Kanye, all for the justice of Swfity.

Thank you, man whom Swift will most likely never meet. Going off Taylor’s interactions with her fans, and even direct interactions with Kanye West, the stint wasn’t really that needed. Taylor Swift is a 25-year-old woman with her own massively thriving and successful career, so Nelson’s service wasn’t really warranted, or asked for, but it sure was hilarious.

Kanye’s appearance at Glastonbury was saturated in controversy, with over 100,000 people (only 20,000 shy of the capacity for the Pyramid stage, upon which Kanye performed) signing a petition to get him taken off the line- up all together.

Kanye West was at his Kanye Best, however, managing to yet again upstage his own levels of narcissism, ending his performance with the declaration “You are now watching the greatest living rock star on the planet”. Never mind Rock is not even Kanye’s genre, all the other things he said in that sentence simultaneously insulted the likes of Slash and The Rolling Stones.

Taylor Swift ended her performance of her London show of the 1989 tour the same night, inviting a vast array of her quickly growing all female troop, including the likes of tennis champion Serena Williams, who is due to start at Wimbledon just two days later. This proves that Swifty doesn’t give a second thought to anything other than who will be included in her band of female powerhouses she’s going to pull up on stage with her tomorrow.
