Cindy Crawford Is Bringing The 80’s Back

Cindy Crawford is known in the Fashion World as one of the highest grossing and globally recognised models of her generation. Being the definition of “supermodel” the now 49 year old is set to produce a TV show with HBC called “Icon” which explores the Fashion Industry and its supermodels from the 80s, as well as bringing to surface unknown secrets and methods from the colossal era.

The cut throat era of when being a model meant you obtained the highest status of the moment was so worshiped in the 80s that many refer it to the time as something you would see in the movies and that it obtained ‘fictional status’. Cindy and her supermodel gang were the forefront of this culture and set the path for future models (which many argue have not been matched since!). For many loyal fans of the A-list group of timeless models; Crawford, Campbell and Moss to name a few, their wishes are about to come true. Cindy is set to direct the new series, using first hand details of what really happened within the world’s most talked about supermodel clique.

From sources we have found, the plot of the series is supposed to be based on the mammoth feud that rose between Elite Model Management and Ford Modeling Agency. Perhaps the passing of Eileen Ford last year meant that the truth of the matter is now able to come out with every juicy and horrific detail exposed. The series is set to be “fictional” but I think many will be picturing it as autobiographic, with real scenes performed by real people based on real agencies, which of course is what makes is really interesting.

This era was a time where individuals were their own person and no one else’s opinion mattered (especially in relation to Eileen Ford, the outspoken founder of Ford Models), so it would be no surprise if the first season is like a disclosed World War 3 with clashes of events, blackmail and heated arguments that fill the screen and it’s plots. Because not all parties are in this world to defend the dialogue and series of events, it will be up to the individual to decide if Cindy is altering the truth with drama now that the Ford’s are gone? Or if she and the cast waited so that EVERYTHING could be told?

The 80’s era was a time when fashion had its own revolution, which still inspires today, and these were the ladies that showed it to us. It is said that the crew being shown in this series would “not get out of bed for less than 10 thousand dollars a day”. We can just imagine the costumes and makeup that will be re-defined in the series and it’s own mini-revolution that could happen again, with girls around the globe trying to rein act the looks shown from the “It” Girls of the 80s.

Cindy herself will not be appearing in the film but will be solely directing it. Although the series is said to be completely fictional, I am sure that fans and models alike will be able to decipher which “character” is based on which model in each episode. We are very excited to see how this turns out and are crossing our fingers for a trailer to be released soon!
