Cosmetics giant MAC Cosmetics has released its newest, “festively fabulous” playlist. Each season the company asks a different group to curate a playlist of “party starters.” For the festive season they asked East London’s “most ridiculous gay, drag, queer, FUN party for all” group Sink the Pink.
The “Tranfam” is a group of people come together to form a family where everyone fits in, something that many of its members did not have earlier in life. They describe themselves as “a crazy commune of chaotic commodities!”
The group has constructed an impressive 60 song playlist, full of dance music from artists including En Vogue, Cher, Diana Ross, Grace Jones, Basement Jaxx and The Strokes. MAC’s goal is to give the listener “unexpected moments of listening delight.”
The playlist does not disappoint. The variety of songs, from “Born to Hand Jive” by Sha Na Na to “Guilty” by Barbara Streisand, reflect the inclusive nature of the group, and their goal to ensure that there is a song to make everyone dance. There is nothing too unfamiliar, and most listeners will know the words to every song, making for an enjoyable listen. Whomever you’re with and wherever you are, this playlist makes any occasion a celebration.
