The long-awaited moment has finally arrived for the designer label LANVIN as Bouchra Jarrar takes control of its reins as the new artistic director.
“I am honored to be part of the extraordinary history of the house, and all the great creators who came before me.”
Lanvin’s previous creative director Alber Elbaz departed from the company last October. The appointment of Jarrar is a momentous as the fashion house once again is run by a woman. Jarrar’s arrival would have certainly made Jeanne Lanvin proud.
Bouchra seemed a natural for our house, founded by a woman. I felt an immediate and very true connection when we met. – Ms. Huiban
Jarrar’s illustrious career began with Jean Paul Gaultier, working under him and she later became the studio director at Balenciaga for Nicolas Ghesquière. Afterwards, her career progressed to Christian Lacroix as the head of couture design.
With an abundance of knowledge and experience acquired from fashion gurus of the industry, Jarrar is labelled by The New York Times as a woman of impeccable fashion pedigree. It’s a noteworthy and well-deserved label, as Jarrar is known for her sheer determination and hard working ethics. Even with her soft-spoken persona, she holds her pedestal in the world of high-end fashion. Her progression led her to open her designer label in 2010. Jarrar is now part of a niche of independent female designers who reside and control the reins to their own successful business in Paris.
Her timeless style is in agreement with the style and values of our house. Her talent, her rigor, her mastery of the body and materials will bring to the house of Lanvin a freshness and modernity while respecting its historic couture soul, a symbol of French elegance. – Ms. Huiban
It was revealed to The New York Times through an internal memo that Jarrar wishes to bring the harmony and coherence of Lanvin to the world of women. Her strong visions and beliefs are notably inspirational.
“I rejoice in being part of this beautiful chapter in the life of the house with all its teams.”
With Jarrar heading the oldest couture house in Paris, the fashion industry will be treated to an array of amazing, stylish and elegant surprises from the fashion house. Lanvin’s principles and Jarrar’s unique visions and perfectionism will be a great compliment.
Jarrar’s inaugural precollection for Lanvin will be showcased in June for Resort 2016.
