Showing his vivid love for the green, TY Dolla $ign has teamed up with HUF and created a clothing line with a loyal tribute to weed for 420.
The american Hip-Hop and RnB recording artist from Los Angeles, mentioned in a Radio interview with Ebro In The Morning that if he is told to stop smoking at a show or venue, his reply is often, “Im smoking or I’m leaving”… This gives us an insight to his passion and dedication to weed and why he has teamed up with HUF for a tribute to 420!
HUF is often seen in the street-wear scene and already well-known for their bright and colourful ‘Plantlife’ socks. Some wear the socks for their interest in the smoking culture, others completely oblivious to what the leaves actually are. But the majority just like the timeless colour block aesthetic.
I feel the trend became a little overrated once middle school kids (might i add: who would have no idea how to light a joint) began begging their parents for some “dosh” to rep the marijuana leaf socks. Style is not always about being conventional though, right?
Highsnobiety describes TY Dolla $ign & HUF’s capsule collection as “vintage stoner concert merch, the collection is decorated with numerous 420-inspired, tongue-in-cheek graphics.” The designs incorporate some 70’s band shirt nostalgia.
Band shirts are now mostly worn for style, but this line takes it back to the root of 70’s band culture, and the collaboration is an identifier for those who share a mutual love for weed.
Happy 420!
