Tommy Hilfiger: A Gigantic Blast From The Past

With no doubt, the resurgence of 90’s street-wear  has basically taken over the mainstream fashion outlets, you can find a 90’s band shirt at almost any retailer right now. Just when we thought the look was being over-done, Tommy Hilfiger – one of the original influencers of this trend – have just dropped a capsule collection. Now we don’t need to spend hours scouting online and in thrift shops for the vintage look!

The nostalgia for 90’s streetwear has been floating around for a couple of years now, and the design team at Hilfiger have obviously listened to the demand. As they are the kings of the look, they haven’t had to do much to deliver this Tommy Jeans Capsule Collection. The line has been completely inspired by their original pieces, and the cropped jumpers have only been tweaked slightly.

“The Tommy Jeans collection revisits ‘90s nostalgia and celebrates iconic styles from our archives,” said Tommy Hilfiger.

The original logo is seen on almost every piece of this line, and the red, white and blue throw of the Tommy 90’s vibe. Mostly made up of the classics, the line includes Tommy T-shirts, crops tops, oversized denim jackets, bombers and even bikinis!

It is refreshing seeing young faces pictured for the campaign shots, Hailey Baldwin, model and friend of the brand has jumped on board as the face of this campaign, alongside Lucky Blue Smith. The nostalgia doesn’t only come from the clothing in this line, but the photography style also takes us back to images of original collaborators; the Aaliyah music video days.

Tommy Hilfiger has not only been in the media for the re-emergence of their originals, but they have also been staying on top of new social progressions. Recently the high-end brand has collaborated with Runway Of Dreams. This brand believes having a disability should not discourage individuals and clothing should not become limited.

Hilfiger has totally embodied this notion and released the first high fashion adaptive clothing for disabled children. Purely designed for people who may have difficulties dressing themselves, this line is also referred to as ‘easy wear’.

Not only is their team staying on top of what’s happening in streetwear fashion trends, but they are also addressing deeper and more functional aspects of fashion. Twenty-years down the track and there is still a major demand for the original looks; with no doubt, Hilfiger is still killing it.
