Westworld Has All The Ingredients To Succeed, But Will It?

It’s hard to imagine that after just 13 episodes the worlds biggest show, Game of Thrones, will come to a presumably sad and frustrating end. With that in mind HBO is already lining up its ducks, preparing to continue their reign over the TV industry with Westworld

Based off of the 1973 film of the same name, Westworld is a science fiction thriller that takes place in a futuristic theme park populated with artificial beings. The highly anticipated show will be a cross between the near future and the reimagined past, following the rise of artificial intelligence and the issues that ensue.

With a plot like that the show will need to have the right execution… and thankfully, it does. Created by husband and wife team Jonathan and Lisa Joy Nolan, the two have each had their fair share of experience. Brother and frequent collaborator to Christopher Nolan, Jonathan has been responsible for writing such notable masterpieces as The Prestige, The Dark Knight and Interstellar. If that is not enough, the show will also be executive produced by J.J. Abrams, a notorious sci-fi head.

Lead by a cast of actors and actresses that comes around only once in a blue moon, Westworld is giving itself all the more reason to be successful. From the oscar winning Anthony Hopkins, to Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden and Jeffery Wright.

With the news that the show runners took extra time in order to plan out the next 5 seasons, it is pretty clear that HBO is banking on the show being their next headliner. Though the thought of this might make some quiver and say that it will confine the show creatively, on the contrary it can also mean that the story will have better synergy and be a more cohesive interlocking story. Nolan reported that he did not want to have a show that repeats itself every year with new guests arriving at Westworld each season, instead he

“wanted the story of the origin of a new species and how that would play out in its complexity.”

So far it is difficult to see how this show could fail… Here’s to hoping it doesn’t. Westworld is set to air on the 2nd of October, will it live up to the hype?
