Gomez’s partnership with Coach sounds like a match made in fashion heaven, as during the past couple of years, the ex-Disney star has successfully risen to fashion “it girl” status. Her classical, yet modern style made her recently one of the faces of Louis Vuitton’s Series 5 campaign. She also had collaborations lined up with K-Mart, Adidas Neo and for a nail polish selection with OPI.
She also has a huge social media following. The singer currently has the most followers on Instagram—104 million—and took eight out of the top ten spots on the list of most-liked photos of 2016. As a millennial, she would attract a new generation of customers that Coach has been vying for in recent years.
And while there are countless numbers of celeb endorsement deals in the industry, this partnership comes at a time when the popularity of star-designed lines is at an all-time high. From Zayn’s upcoming capsule with Versus Versace to Gigi Hadid’s fall collection with Tommy Hilfiger. The success is so big that the brand recently announced its second Tommy x Gigi collaboration, set to launch in February next year.
This probably will be Selena Gomez’ comeback after her break. She spent some time out of the spotlight, while dealing with anxiety, but has recently re-emerged in the public eye. Most notably with a moving speech at the American Music Awards.
“I think it’s safe to say that all of you know my life whether I like it or not. I had to stop because I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside,” she told the crowd after winning the trophy for Favorite Female Artist in Pop/Rock.
