Not a newbie to PAPER Magazine, it’s been a decade since singer, actress and humanitarian made her cover debut after releasing her first single, ‘Umbrella’. The title paying tribute to her third CD, Good Girl Gone Bad, her first titular cover expressed a young Rihanna, searching for her liberation and place in the music world. Now ten years later, this year’s title, ‘Break The Rules’ celebrates a new Rihanna and there’s no question she has found her long sought freedom. She means business!

The latest celebrity to sign up as cover girl for PAPER magazine after Kim Kardashian, Rihanna goes for the futuristic glam rock aesthetic with just a dash of luxury mixed in. RiRi pulls off the grungy look off perfectly. Dressed up to the nines in brands such as Bally, Chanel, Dior and many more, Rihanna poses in front of and inside a bustling New York convenience store of all things.

Taking inspiration from her musical career and ‘what if…’ situations, the photoshoot envisions what a successful woman, like Rihanna might look in everyday life.

Farren Fucci, co-stylist of this year’s PAPER Magazine photoshoot, states it’s “A future angle with a twist”.

The photoshoot includes shots of the singer in spiked neon green hair and dressed in a fluorescent fur coat. Another image shows her looking confident in orange hair and donning an oversized green and orange rugby shirt with a matching cap. The third of the series has Rihanna with a gorgeous sweeping purple pony tail and wearing a knitted matching jacket and skirt but no top underneath. Scandalous!

Her success as a musician has lead Rihanna creating five more albums, named CFDA fashion icon and so much more. Now lending her talent to Hollywood, she is currently shooting upcoming feature film Ocean 8, alongside Cate Blanchett and Sandra Bullock. Without a doubt, Rihanna remains one of our leading icons in style and music.

We can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us!
