After weeks of anticipation the CFDA Fashion Awards have announced their nominees and honourees for its 2017 Fashion Awards, which will be held June 5 in New York City.
For the coveted Womenswear Designer of the Year Award, Calvin Klein’s new creative director Raf Simons will compete with Marc Jacobs, Joseph Altuzarra of Altuzarra, design duos Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of New York-based label Proenza Schouler, and Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen of The Row.
The annual event also features a diverse group of honourees including American sportswear designer Rich Owens, who will receive the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, and Kenneth Cole, who is the recipeint for the Swarovski Award for Positive Change for his work in publicly supporting AIDS awareness and research and various social issues including abortion.
