Fashion Takes to the Streets for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Australia

Australia’s fashion season is under way with the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week kicking off and we are loving what we see on the runway while the style on the streets is just as jaw-dropping.

Leather Everything

Leather was definitely on trend this year with fashionistas donning everything leather from leather jackets and pants to leather gloves and even corsets. One look we are head over heels in love with is this layered leather corset over a baby blue flowing button down combined with leather pants, leather jacket and leather boots!

One colour from head to toe

Another trend that we saw lots of on the streets was people wearing the same colour and shades head to toe. The uniformity and the simplicity of this colour trend was in no way stifling as we saw one stylish lady embracing this one colour trend and also added a pop to their outfit through their handbag ofchoice.

Colour blocking

Contrasting the one-color style is the colour blocking trend that was seen, expected and didn’t disappoint. Bold statements were made with not just colours being mixed and matched, but patterns as well, with some fashionistas pairing checkered tops with striped skirts or pants.

Shoes as statement pieces

Also making an appearance this season is the use of shoes as the statement piece and we here at FIB are living for this trend! Gone are the days that your shoes have to exactly match your outfit, instead fashionistas are using the accessory as a way to liven up their wardrobe and adding that much-desired flare to their outfits. From thigh high boots used in lieu of leggings to pastel wedges with pastel proofs to bright floral statements on ankle boots we are absolutely on board with this trend! Our fearless favourite for this trend was one fashionista expressing her style with pastel pink platform sandals with fluffy poofs!

Oversized jackets and hoodies

This trend of wearing oversized jackets and hoodies hardly comes as a surprise as it’s winter in Australia and despite the stereotype, it does get quite nippy. But those attending the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week events knew exactly how to keep warm in style with the return of the long flowing jacket making a comeback with the added addition to oversized hoodies being used as a warm way to make a statement.
