FIB Checks Out The Best Moments From This Year’s Splendour In The Grass

Didn’t make it to Splendour In The Grass this year? Have no fear because FIB has got you covered with some of the best moments of Splendour 2017 from Peking Duk to Powderfinger. 

Peking Duk weren’t the headliners, but you wouldn’t know that

Peking Duk are always known to get a good banger stuck in your head but their Splendour set took it to a whole new level. After opening with an orchestral overture of the duo’s biggest hits with violin and trumpet players, Adam and Reuben wasted no time on delivering the goods with some of their biggest tracks on top of new remixes, surprise live collaborations and a set that will have you screaming for more.

The lads premiered their newest remix of one of Lorde’s most recent singles, ‘Perfect Places’ having the feel-good tune turn all heads for a filthy drop with a chorus that had the whole crowd jumping.  Ben from SAFIA also appeared to perform ‘Say My Name’ featuring a surprise solo from Dan Sultan and straight out of the UK, AlunaGeorge arrived to perform ‘Fake Magic’. There were also appearances from Ivan Ooze who performed ‘Let Me Blow Your Mind, and Vera Blue took to the stage to perform Elliphant’s part of ‘Stranger’. After a show of streamers, confetti, bubbles and steam machines, the set came to a close and the crowd were left to find a set better. So far, none have been successful.

Bill Fanning brought back Powderfinger and the crowd couldn’t handle it

“It’s been 10 years since Powderfinger played Splendour, so let’s have a little anniversary,” – the words of a wise Bill Fanning who’s set was supposed to remain solo but who could say no to the band who is responsible for triple j listeners’ number 1 Australian album of all time?  Not us. The band reunited in front of a wee 10,000 people and let’s just say the crowd took the surprise better than expected.
