‘After The Lockouts’ Teaser: Ian Hartley

The next teaser for Paul G Robert’s documentary ‘After the Lockouts: The Search for Sydney’s Missing Nightlife’ has emerged, featuring Sydney nightlife historian Ian Hartley. 

Ian Hartley is somewhat of a multi-faceted creative talent, with an arms-length resume detailing everything from artist, film-maker, publisher, editor and author, to pop culture savant. Hartley is a bonafide Sydney nightlife historian, having designed and operated many of the city’s most legendary night-clubs and bars. From Candy’s Apartment, Q Bar and Kinselas, to Soho, Orb and Palladium – Ian has the Midas touch.

‘People just went to bars for the music, and alcohol was just secondary. Being drunk wasn’t a good look; it was just people went out to nightclubs to be seen, to dance.’

It’s no wonder that Hartley questions why ‘the nightlife was the enemy’, seemingly exasperated in his reproach for Sydney’s dwindling nightlife.
