Talk about a slow news day. The UK’s Daily Star reports that Princess Diana will be at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle despite the fact she’s been dead for two decades.
Other British tabloids the Mirror and the Daily Express have been running the same story, and they don’t appear to be joking. Originating at the Daily Star, the tabloid newspaper was convinced after speaking with a pair of self-proclaimed psychics before reporting their statements as fact.
The source of the absurd scoop comes from psychic twins Terry and Linda Jamison who say they have received a message from Prince Harry’s mother from the beyond the grave. The late Princess of Wales, who died in a car crash in Paris in 1997, reportedly told the pair she wouldn’t miss the upcoming nuptials “for the world”.
The article quotes the siblings who, in turn, quote Princess Di from beyond the grave:
“I will most definitely be present for Harry and Meghan’s wedding… I was also there for William and Kate’s wedding. It will be beautiful, like my own ceremony with a horse and carriage … I am around them all more than they realise.”
Reaction to the breaking news has been mocked on social media for printing them.
It’s expected that Harry and Meghan will pay tribute to Diana in many ways at their wedding on May 19. Meghan will continue the royal bridal tradition of carrying a sprig of myrtle in her wedding bouquet, as every bride has since Queen Victoria.
