World famous denim giants, Levi’s, has named Hailey Bieber the face of their iconic 501s, which turn a ripe old age of 146 (still cute tho!) in May this year.
The timeless pair of jeans have been seen over the years covering a number of famous booties including the likes of James Dean and Marilyn Monroe to Alexa Chung and my personal favourite, the world’s fave president in his classic jeans and joggers look, Barack Obama. But the brand has recently named Californian-born beauty, Hailey Bieber as the first face of these versatile denims.
Brought to life in 1873 by Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis, the 501s were designed for the working-class pioneers who needed pants tough enough to withstand their kind.
of lifestyle without being replaced at the end of every working week. Not only were the 501s successful in the working world but soared to unprecedented heights in the fashion world as well.
Now, in 2019, the 501s are still stylish, durable and an all-rounder as you can get them in the 501 short, 501 crop, 501 skinny and the 501 Original – something for everyone!
Bieber agrees with the quintessential status of the jeans, “I think it’s probably the most iconic piece of clothing there is – I remember how amazing the fit was on my first pair. They’ve been my favourite ever since”.
But if these incredible jeans have been around for so long and worn by so many, why is Hailey Bieber the first face of the 501s? In an interview with WWD, Levi’s chief marketing officer, Jennifer Sey said: “It never felt right before, but we love Hailey’s energy and optimism. It felt like the right time to associate a face with 501.” And with Hailey’s pre-existing love for the brand, it was clearly a no-brainer!
Made for the resilient working class and now worn for every occasion, the 501s may be hella old but they have proven themselves worthy of their timeless reputation.
