Coachella: The Most Outstanding Onstage Outfits from Weekend One

Coachella was the main event this past weekend that had eyes from all around the world watching. We’re here to show you some of the most memorable outfits from the artists who performed during weekend one of the music festival.

Janelle Monae

Her aim was to make the show feel like past, present, and future at once, said Alexandra Mandelkorn, her stylist. During the whole performance, she wore a mix from her tour outfits, combined with new accessories. Her opening and closing style were two black and red military-style jackets.

“She’s like some starship commander from an amazing Afrofuture planet”, Mandelkorn said. “There’s a through line of militaristic elements throughout the show. It gives a commanding presence and evokes the sense of leadership”, she added.

Ariana Grande 

She owned the stage wearing a flared mini skirt, with a top and thigh- high boots in lavender, pink and burgundy. But the final touch to her typical Ari outfit was her pouf shoulder sleeves, that created a look of shawl-like sleeves around her entire arm.

Rosalia

Rosalia brought the 80s logo-mania back on stage. She performed Con Altura with J Bavlin, wearing a very on trend pink Louis Vuitton logo print tracksuit paired with a pair of those love-to-hate chunky, white sneakers.

“I think that she is just an icon and definitely on the frontier of what it means to be a pop star now,” said Actress Amandla Stenberg to The Hollywood Reporter.

Billie Eilish

LV is in with another Louis Vuitton success worn by Eilish. She wore an oversized denim jacket and jeans matching set, made by the knockoff artist Imran Potato, and completed the outfit with white Oakley, eat your heart out Willy Wonka sunglasses.

Katy Perry

Perry participated in Zedd’s performance, singing 365 where she surprised fans wearing a red Area jumpsuit, with a silver mesh overlay, silver boots. She completed the outfit with larger-than-life silver earrings and two floral brooches.

Jaden Smith 

During his performance, he wore a black shirt that showcased “ERYS”, which is the name of his upcoming album, together with a black vest and matching Dickies 874 work pants, with a patchwork of bold graphics. He combined it with multiple accessories, but the highlight of his ‘fit was a matching pink chain link necklace and bracelet set.

Cardi B

She owned the stage with a belted floral cream bustier over a blue bodysuit with ruffled fringe hot pants and fishnet tights.

Burna Boy

Damini Ogulu (a.k.a. Burna Boy) stepped out with a custom knee-length Burberry tan and yellow jacket and matching trousers with fringed sleeves and hems.

Khalid

A monotonous but very festival vibing outfit for Khalid. For this performance, he opted for a palm tree patterned outfit, with black and white Adidas sneakers. We can’t forget about them socks though…
